Reading Fit-Out for PwC Completes

Parkeray recently completed the fit out of PwC’s new offices in Reading, creating a bright, modern space tailored to support their relocation and evolving workplace requirements.

Under the leadership of Graham Smith, Joe Hanrahan and Nathan Wright, our team delivered a 40,000 sq ft workspace at the prominent One Station Hill development for the global professional services firm.

The fit out, spread over two floors, features impressive client-facing spaces including a stunning reception with a bespoke desk, eye-catching feature wall, cozy seating booths, and breakout areas. The workspace includes open-plan practice areas, meeting rooms, and well-appointed tea points—designed with both functionality and style in mind.

A standout element is the striking interconnecting staircase, completed alongside a fire curtain installation as landlord works, adding bold visual centrepiece to the space.

An Outstanding BREEAM Rating
Sustainability was a core priority from the outset, with the project targeting WELL Platinum certification and a BREEAM Outstanding rating. Achieving an impressive score of 94.6%, it stands as our highest-rated BREEAM project to date, with WELL certification currently pending.

Fittings and Finishes
The fit out showcases several bespoke details, from a timber-slatted corridor to custom joinery and a tailor-made reception desk. But the real showstopper is the staircase, timber clad, made from perforated metal, it’s finished in vibrant wet-sprayed orange with integrated lighting, making a memorable impact. Acoustics is another dominant feature throughout the space with rafts, baffles and wall panelling – all sympathetic to the offices modern design.

Overcoming Challenges
The project ran smoothly thanks to excellent teamwork between our team, subcontractors, and PwC. Regular catchups with the client and architects helped us stay on track and quickly address any concerns.

A notable challenge was coordinating works around the building’s single goods lift, shared by three contractors, which required careful planning to manage deliveries and waste removal efficiently.

Design & Innovation
The team embraced innovation by using robotic technology for setting out partitions, ensuring pinpoint accuracy and reducing human error, a real game-changer in improving efficiency.

Collaborative Approach
From the start, regular workshops with PwC and subcontractors ensured everyone was aligned, paving the way for a seamless build and a fantastic result.

The completed project demonstrates Parkeray’s collaborative approach and attention to detail, delivering a sustainable, future-ready workspace that supports PwC’s people and enhances the One Station Hill development.
