Continuing our valued partnership with Cranford Community College, we were delighted to welcome the Year 13 students on Friday 10 October for a presentation pitch workshop and an introduction to careers in construction at our HQ.

As part of an ongoing research project, the students have been investigating the carbon absorption potential of various plants, exploring how their findings could inform the design of a new landscaped area being planned at the school. They presented their results to a panel from Parkeray, including CEO Phil Pearce, H&S Manager Paddy Keeble, Head of Marketing Lesley Brewster, and Assistant Commercial Manager Connie Shanahan, who also shared her journey as a trainee on our Graduate Scheme.
The day began with an inspiring visit to the Roof Garden at Fenchurch Street, where our sustainability team, Joe Murray and Chris Blencowe, discussed the role of biophilic design in urban planning. Students then returned to our HQ for a pitch preparation session led by our partner Jonathan Gilbert from Elite Training, along with presentation tips from our Head of Design, Toby Milsom.

Armed with new knowledge and practical advice, the students wrapped up the day by delivering a thoughtful, well-prepared presentation, followed by an engaging Q&A session.

The event was a resounding success, with positive feedback from both students and staff. One particularly heartfelt comment came from Year 13 Head of Humanities, Simon Bagg, who shared:
“To see the students so engaged by you, Joe, and the panel throughout the day has made a long-lasting, significant impact. The train ride home was filled with excited chatter about working at Parkeray and the opportunities a career in construction could offer.”
We’re proud to support the next generation of talent and look forward to continuing our collaboration with Cranford Community College.
