Parkeray’s Prostate Cancer Awareness talk

On Tuesday 17 November, prostate cancer survivor and volunteer, Patrick Williams joined us at our 40 Gracechurch Street project to spread awareness about the disease.

This marked Patrick’s second visit to one of our projects, following his inspiring session in February 2024, where he also shared his story and encouraged greater awareness.

Patrick spoke openly about his journey, from being diagnosed in January 2020 to now living in remission. His experience is a powerful reminder of why early detection matters. Given that 1 in 6 to 8 men will develop prostate cancer during their lifetime, understanding the signs and getting tested is vital, especially in a male-dominated industry like construction.

As part of the session, Patrick shared “The Good Cancer,” offering deeper insight into his journey. Check out the video below:

The floor was open at the end for questions, with both our site workers and office teams taking part in the discussion. Patrick wrapped up by encouraging attendees to purchase Prostate Cancer UK pin badges, with all proceeds supporting the charity, a simple but meaningful way to help.

At Parkeray, the health and wellbeing of our staff is a priority, and sessions like this help us keep that commitment.

A huge thank you to Terry Hogg, Project Manager, and Aileen Partner, HR Director, for coordinating this event. We’re proud to support such an important cause and continue the conversation around men’s health.
